The global Finance Function acts as a proactive business partner, advising and making recommendations based upon financial projections and historical performance. Finance also provides financial expertise companywide and ensures accurate and efficient transaction processing.
Position Description:
Purpose of the Position: Senior Tax Analyst Non-Income Tax - professional successfully filling this position will provide Management of certain use tax processes and related system configuration, compliance and audit; guidance and supervision to Tax Analyst NIT; and support to business as required.
Day to Day
Responsibilities:
Coordinates and maintains good working relationship with tax advisors,
Provide tax support to other members of control and finance functions,
Review / Monitor PeopleSoft & SAP tax configuration for tax to ensure monthly tax accruals and payments are correct.
Continually seek process improvements and be the champion of positive change.
Manage NY, NC & KY Tax Rate Compliance annual processes, including insourcing taxability analysis as feasible.
Create, Implement, and Manage VA, ME periodic Tax Rate Compliance processes.
Supervise Tax Analyst staff.
Create, implement and manage rotating reverse audits of property tax, sales tax, and use tax returns not prepared by the Tax Department
Engage as participant in Tax Projects, Dmaics
Manage Periodic Sales/Use tax compliance process for Corning Inc entity, ensuring all returns filed and payments made timely.
Assist / cross - train with monthly Use tax calculations for COC LLC
Reporting Structure: Will report to Manager Non-Income Tax (located in Hickory NC)
Travel Requirements: Minimal On an As Needed basis
Education &
Experience:
Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Business Finance with 3-5 years experience in Finance related area
OR
Bachelors Degree in Non- Finance with 6-10 years experience in Finance related area
CPA desirable but not required
Prior Corning experience a plus
Required Skills:
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Power Point
Demonstrated ability to research and learn new technical areas
Desired Skills:
Experience participating on projects, in team environment
Audit or public accounting experience
Experience in PeopleSoft and/or SAP, various tax software (Taxware / Vertex)
Soft Skills:
Team player with strong interpersonal skills, positive, flexible, creative, self-motivated with desire for self-improvement and diligence with ability to work well on a team as well as operate effectively in a corporate culture that manages by consensus
