Scope of Position (i.e. projects involved with and role within group):
To execute procurement strategies to manage sourcing of products and services while continuously identifying and implementing opportunities to lower total cost and mitigate risk.
Assists with the overall planning, implementation and optimization of all activities and support required for procuring products and services from requisition through delivery and invoice processing. Primary areas include procurement of indirect products and services, supplier management, logistics operations and process support for the Corning Optical Communications commercial office in Hickory, NC.
Day to Day
Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with the Global Buying Policy (GBP) along with standard Global Supply Management (GSM) processes and tools.
Manage or provide support for specified GSM projects as assigned by hiring manager.
Promote and proliferate utilization of procurement tools (P-Cards; E-procurement/E-sourcing, requisitions, and purchase orders).
Works on assigned projects to prepare and solicit competitive bids, quotations, and proposals with pertinent specifications, terms, and conditions.
Facilitates the quote process by receiving and verifying completion of Scope of Work (SOW) document in accordance with policy.
Negotiate, develop, and manage indirect and service agreements and contracts as assigned by the hiring manager.
Manage suppliers, consultants, etc. and interface with appropriate departments in the delivery of materials, components, equipment, and services while ensuring assurance of supply and best cost position scenarios.
Manage and resolve NDA, COI, and contract conflicts for Optical Communications commercial office.
Resolve Vendor Add/Maintenance issues as identified by Shared Services or functional departments.
Participate as an active member of cross-functional process improvement teams as assigned by the hiring manager.
Serves as primary back-up for procurement support for Corning Optical Communications Technology and Engineering Groups in Hickory, NC.
Supplier Diversity
Supports the Supplier Diversity Manager with program management objectives and program performance enhancements.
Responsible for providing timely and accurate Supplier Diversity reports to customer base.
Manage, track, and report Supplier Diversity performance against targets and objectives.
Assists in the on-going support and mentoring of business and functional personnel relative to Supplier Diversity program requirements and opportunities.
Back-up and/or assist Supplier Diversity Manager with community outreach efforts.
Travel Requirements (please note if international): Minimal travel required. Travel to Corning locations and supplier sites for site audits, quality resolution, price negotiations, supplier business reviews, supplier development, or project coordination. Travel may also include travel associated with supplier diversity program outreach and training and development.
Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
Regular office hours (8:00 - 5:00) Monday - Friday
Required Education:
Bachelors Degree (Supply Chain, Business or Technical Field Preferred) or Associates Degree with minimum of 2
Years relevant experience

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
