Job Description:
We are looking for a materials person with solid supply chain experience and preferably with fiber optic connectors or other electronic instrumentation.
Purpose of Position:
Support the distribution, purchasing and scheduling of materials to meet customer demand. Tasks include creating purchase orders, monthly reporting, contract negotiation, and product cost analysis to accomplish the overall business plan. Position also provides engineering support with suppliers, customers, and all internal functions to solve product problems, control change and promote the overall success of company's parts and services.

Responsibilities:
Primary Procurement responsibility for the following products:
Fujikura products including ferrules and cleaners
NTT products including cleaners
TNK products including standard and custom pins
Secondary Procurement responsibility for the following materials:
Production Raw Materials
Outside Services
Domestic Finished Goods for Resale
Production Supplies and Operating Materials
Experimental Items
Developmental Purchases
Office Supplies
Administrative Services and Supplies
Use the ERP system to also:
Understand the product data management cost database
Review inventory transactions of employees as required
Troubleshoot invalid transactions caused by system issues or human error and coordinate correcting transactions with accounting and technical support
Monitor inventory levels of purchased items
Work with the DRP program to drive proper inventory levels
Provide engineering support to suppliers in coordination with product management
Use drawings to drive acceptable quality levels
Use CMM and other measurement systems to analyze product problems and determine root cause
Coordinate with customers as needed to resolve product problems
Complete and support supplier agreements
Support the company controller by investigating and resolving issues related to inventory transactions that affect company financials. Complete all month end closing actions related to inventory and inventory transactions.
Establish, track and communicate cost saving activity
Responsible for communicating lead times and any unusual lead time or delivery issues to Development, Operations, Product Management and Customer Service. This communication is based on the production plan, DRP plan, purchased item schedules and available-to-promise (ATP) information
Serves as point of contact for all assigned suppliers. This includes participation in supplier quality meetings and quality audits, scheduling of all supplier visits, and coordination with various functional areas. Supports efforts to continually improve company/supplier relationships. Works with QA and Engineering to assess supplier capabilities and compatibility with company's quality philosophy. Manages the preparation of supplier evaluations. As business needs permit, visits strategic suppliers (including CCS, Fujikura, Sigma Pro and TNK) to discuss the supplier evaluation results and jointly develops action plans for improvement opportunities.
Continuously strives to identify alternate sources of materials and cost reductions for current suppliers in coordination with Product Management and Operations.
Provide technical support for products and its Manufacturing Associates. Support may include functional analysis, product analysis testing/debugging to resolve customer issues.
Lead or support product improvement/enhancement efforts and projects
Perform and lead product costing requirements to feed the Company financial analysis and reporting
Create, maintain and input cost data into the semi-annual budgeting process. Coordinate with suppliers, development, product management and operations to gather and calculate product costs for the budgeting process.
Knowledge & Skill Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in engineering.
Thorough understanding of Supply Chain Concepts to include product costing
Minimum of three years' experience with ERP software, JD Edwards preferred
Working knowledge of fiber optic assemblies, connectors, and testing preferred
Advanced PC skills with standard MS Office software: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Demonstrated planning, organizational follow-up and presentation skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, as well, as verbal and written communications skills
Bottom Line Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in engineering, math, science or related.
2. Experience with Supply Chain Concepts including product costing.
3. 3 - 5 years' experience with ERP software, JD Edwards preferred.
4. Working knowledge of fiber optic assemblies, connectors, and testing preferred.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
