Job Description:
This is a second shift position. Company makes high density fiber interconnection components for a variety of new high speed equipment from private network servers/SAN/LAN and public network IP routers/switches/OADM to emerging military, medical diagnostic, and video applications.
In house technology development focuses on high precision molded and metal parts for active O-E modules, novel connector designs, fiber management flexible circuits and improved tools for fiber termination and cleaning.
Company has experience in materials, mold design, and nanometer scale metrology used in molding millions of MT-style ferrules for demanding requirements, such as up to 100 fibers or for low insertion loss.
Manufacturing Process Technicians
The purpose of this position is to provide technician support to production and engineering projects.
. Take direction from Engineers and Supervisors in support of current engineering projects.
. Perform assembly, maintenance and repair of molds, inserts, and mold
presses. Establish and maintain up-to-date and accurate records of all
mold maintenance and repair activity. May be on-call over multiple shifts to provide such services.
. Use precision measurement systems to evaluate parts and mold tooling against drawing requirements. Interpret measurement data and share accurate information with the team to assist in making decisions.
. Follow and understand acceptable quality control systems associated with parts and tooling.
. Establish and maintain preventive maintenance procedures and records for all manufacturing equipment.
. Repair or arrange for repair of manufacturing equipment.
. Provide technical support to manufacturing team for all manufacturing processes.
. Assist with periodic product and process qualifications as required. Work with Product Development and Quality Assurance as required.
. Provide technical interface to Product Development for smooth, efficient transfer of products and processes.
. Additional duties may be required as needed.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
. Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
Equivalent experience may also be acceptable.
. Read and interpret engineering drawings of parts, tooling, and equipment.
. Background in hydraulic, pneumatic, and/or electronic repair a plus.
. Demonstrated prioritization, decision making, troubleshooting and organizational skills
. Demonstrated process improvement suggestion and implementation skills
. Excellent interpersonal skills, as well, as verbal and written communications skills
. General knowledge and working experience with the equipment and measurement instruments of a machine shop
. Basic knowledge of experiment design, data analysis and statistical quality control techniques is preferred
. General knowledge and working experience with mechanical and electronic metrology instrumentation is preferred
. Ability to see and manipulate very small parts (125 micron diameter) accurately and without damage
. Ability to perform with minimal supervision and to translate verbal and written instructions into product and process documentation and drawings
. General working knowledge of computers. CAD experience is preferred.
Candidate should be self-motivated, flexible, able to succeed with several projects at the same time, and work accurately under pressure.
Bottom Line Requirements:

2. Experience with small precision molds and smaller tonnage machines (Less Than 150 Tons).
3. Local or close enough for a short easy move.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
